Downtime notifications and keyword alerting
A notification rule says which event fastry reports, and on which channel. You hear about a down website before your customers do, and you can hear about a keyword that lost its Google position.
Add a channel
Open Notifications and add a channel. fastry asks you to confirm an email address or a phone number before it sends there. A channel can be used by any number of rules.
The usual channel for a downtime alert. Every plan can use it. You confirm the address from the email fastry sends.
Slack
Posts the alert into a Slack channel your team already watches.
Webhook
fastry calls a URL you provide, so your own tool, ticket system or script can react to an outage.
SMS
A text message when email is too slow. SMS is included from the Agency plan, with a monthly limit.
Create a rule for an outage
- Under Notifications, add a rule and choose the event Down. Pick one or more confirmed channels.
- Leave the rule on all monitors, or limit it to one website, API or ping test.
- Set how many failed checks in a row confirm the outage. The default is 3, so a single hiccup does not wake you up.
- Save. When the monitor fails that many times, fastry opens an incident and sends the downtime notification. When the monitor recovers, you get a recovery message on the same channels.
Events you can be notified about
Down is the outage alert. The other events cover speed, security, releases and Google rankings. Keyword alerting tells you when a tracked keyword moves on Google, so SEO positions sit next to uptime in the same notification list.
Down
The website, API, port, ping test or UDP check is down after the confirmations you set.
Blocked
The server answered in a way that looks like a block, for example a firewall page.
Slow
The response time stayed above the threshold you set.
Performance regression
A Core Web Vital, usually LCP, got worse by the percentage you set. This is the alert for loading time, next to the downtime alert.
Worse after deploy
The page got slower or less healthy after a deployment. The marker on the chart shows which release.
SSL expiry
The certificate expires within the number of days you set. Optional reminders at 14 and 7 days.
Header change
A response header changed, for example a security header disappeared.
SEO change
Something important in the HTML changed, such as the title, the description or the canonical URL.
Keyword alerting
A Google ranking moved. You can alert when a keyword loses more than a number of positions, when it leaves the top 10, when it enters the top 10, or when it is cited in People Also Ask or an AI overview. You can limit the rule to one domain.
Weekly report
A short Monday email with uptime, incidents and response time. The full client report is a separate document.
Quiet hours and escalation
In the Pro plan, a rule can stay quiet at night or on days you choose, and it can escalate: if an outage is still open after 5, 10, 15, 30 or 60 minutes and nobody has acknowledged it, fastry notifies a second channel.
