What groups are for

A group is a name you choose, for example a client, plus the domains that belong to them. Every monitor on that domain and its subdomains is part of the group, including monitors you add later. Reports, recipients and viewer access hang off the group.

Why create a group

One place per client

An agency workspace holds many websites. A group keeps one client’s domains together, so the monitor list and the report talk about that client only.

Reports

Every client report belongs to a group. The recipients on the group receive it. A second report for the same client, for example a technical one and a short one, can use the same recipients.

Viewers

A viewer is someone who may look but not change anything. Invite them to one group, or to all groups. They see the monitors, rankings and reports of those groups and nothing else in the workspace.

A domain in more than one group

The same domain can sit in two groups when two reports or two viewers need it. Adding a monitor to a group adds its domain.

Create a group

  1. Open Groups and choose New group. Groups are available from the Starter plan.
  2. Enter a name, for example the client’s name, and save. fastry asks you to assign domains next.
  3. Add the domains, or pick the group when you create a monitor. Then set the report recipients if this client should receive reports.
